The Plateau

The Plateau consist of a small region in Southern Interior of British Columbia and Alberta. Three main groups: Athapaskan, Salishian and Ktunaxa live there.

Their main sources of food are from fishing, foraging and hunting. There is a large variety of animals to hunt such as the coyote, fox, raccoon, porcupine, marten, hare, beaver, deer and so on.

They use many techniques to catch fish. They can either scoop up salmon from shallow waters or set up nets.

For transportation, they row canoes and ride horses.

The people of the Plateau have tons myths and legends. The coyote is a important figure in their religion because it is brings salmon in to the river every spring or fall.
